Rita Ora Signs On to Serve as
Special Correspondent with Host Iggy Azalea for the Return of
MTV’s “House of Style;”
The Duo to Provide Fashion
Commentary during The VMAs Airing Live on Sunday, August 24 and “House of
Style” VMA Fashion Recap Special on Tuesday, August 26 at 7:00 pm ET/PT
New York, NY (August 8, 2014) – On the heels of the
recent announcement of Iggy Azalea serving as the new host of
the iconic fashion series, “House of Style,” MTV, a unit of Viacom Inc.
(NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA), today announced that the “MTV Artist to Watch alum”
is set to make her “MTV Video Music Awards” performance debut LIVE
from The Forum in Inglewood, CA on Sunday, August 24 at 9:00
p.m. ET/PT. As one of 2014’s breakout stars, Iggy has taken
over the pop and hip-hop charts with hits like “Fancy” featuring Charli
XCX and “Problems” with Ariana Grande. After being nominated
for the “MTV Artist to Watch” Award in 2013, Azalea received seven nominations
this year including the highly coveted “Video of the Year,” “Best Female
Video,” “Best Pop Video” and “Best Collaboration” categories and more.
She will be joined on the VMA stage by another “MTV Artist to Watch”
alumni, Rita Ora, to perform her new single
“Black Widow,” which is currently flying up the charts.
After being nominated for the “MTV Artist to Watch” Award
in 2013, Azalea received seven nominations this year including the highly
coveted “Video of the Year,” “Best Female Video,” “Best Pop Video” and “Best
Collaboration” categories and more.
Along with her new “House of Style” special correspondent,
Rita Ora, Iggy will bring fans live into the VMA action with the first-of-its-kind live
“show within a show.” Presented by Unilever’s Caress®,

viewers will see commentary from Iggy and Rita in real-time on all things VMAs
– from the performances to red carpet style hits and more – interspersed
throughout the VMA Pre-Show from 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. ET/PT and the VMA broadcast
from 9:00 -11:00 p.m. ET/PT. Following the VMAs, on Tuesday, August 26, “House
of Style” will air a special VMA fashion episode that will premiere on MTV at

To celebrate her upcoming
performance and the launch of “House of Style,” Iggy will take over MTV on
Sunday, August 10 with “100 Things About Iggy Azalea” beginning at 11:00
a.m. ET/PT. Throughout the day, Iggy will share 100 facts about herself
including topics such as: what celebrity she’d like to be interviewed
by, her favorite swear words, her VMA nominations, which awards she most
wants to win, facts about her signature style and what it means for her to host
“House of Style.” Throughout the day, fans will be able to tweet
#100Things in order to unlock a special #101 fact about Iggy Azalea.
After years of honing her
signature style on hip-hop’s underground circuit, Iggy Azalea has burst
onto the charts and emerged as the breakout story of 2014. Her smash
hit, “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX, rocketed to #1, breaking airplay and Spotify
records along the way. After an astounding 7 weeks at #1, Iggy Azalea made
history on the Billboard Hot 100 as "Fancy," rewrote the record for
the longest-leading No. 1 by a female rapper. Iggy made chart history again as

The 2013 "MTV Video Music Awards" delivered big,
with the award show ranking as cable's #1 entertainment telecast of the year
among P12-34 at the time. The first-ever award show to be broadcast live
from Brooklyn's Barclays Center, the VMAs garnered a total audience of 10.1
million viewers, a 66 percent increase versus 2012, and the ratings jumped 47
percent compared to the previous year's telecast, delivering a strong 7.8
P12-34 rating. The encore presentation of the show on MTV earned an additional
2.8 million total viewers, amounting to 12.9 million total viewers across both
airings on MTV. Ratings for the 2013 "MTV Video Music Awards
Pre-Show" increased 100 percent compared to the previous year with P12-34
and garnered a 3.6 rating among that demographic, and total viewers grew a
whopping 119 percent with 4.6 million tuning in.* Additionally, the 2013
"MTV Video Music Awards" aired across MTV's global network of more
than 60 channels and enjoyed a double-digit ratings increase year over year
in key international markets such as the UK, Australia, the Netherlands,
Singapore, Spain, Argentina and more.
The 2013 "MTV Video Music Awards" shattered
previous records across MTV's web, mobile and social channels at the time
ranking as the biggest VMA day in history in terms of total visitors, page
views and streams. More than 4 million fans visited VMA content on MTV.com, mobile web and MTV app generating more than 15 million total
streams – five times higher than the previous year's show day – with the live
stream portion now ranking as the biggest in Viacom's history. MTV mobile saw
its biggest day ever with more than 2 million visitors, 6 million page views
and 1.8 million streams. During the two-hour telecast, social media exploded as
fans passionately reacted to the performances and winners generating 120
national and worldwide trending topics on twitter, and 1.2 million Instagram
likes. Additionally, MTV launched a successful cross platform social
communications campaign to build anticipation for the show entitled
#RoadToTheVMAs, which featured the Moonman in a myriad of iconic locations,
events and with various artists and celebrities throughout Brooklyn and NYC.
The campaign garnered more than 100 million social media impressions, including
over half a million likes on Instagram, nearly 60 million impressions on
Twitter, more than 40 million impressions on Facebook and over 1.2 million
impressions on Tumblr.
